Cotton is one of our favourite fibres. Our very first product-the iconic white shirt-was crafted from pure cotton, which we have continued to use throughout our collections ever since. However, the way we source cotton has changed over time.

Cotton

We're committed to supporting responsible cotton farming by:

  • Sourcing Australian, recycled and organically grown cotton in selected ranges.
  • Working with Oritain to trace the cotton in our Verified ranges back to local farms.
  • Supporting Better Cotton in its aim to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment.
  • Partnering with Landcare Australia on The Biodiversity Project, an initiative that supports the restoration of Australian cotton farmlands.

Australian cotton

Country Road is proud to support the Australian cotton industry. Australian cotton growers are recognised as leaders in responsible farming practices, both in their water efficiency and in their use of cotton varieties suited to the Australian climate.

Strengthening our commitment to local farmers and responsible sourcing, we've partnered with Oritain to scientifically trace our Verified ranges back to Australian farms.

Organically grown cotton

We source organically grown cotton for selected ranges. Organically grown cotton reduces the use of harmful chemicals and abides by strict environmental standards which are audited independently.

Recycled cotton

We seek to give a second life to existing resources and redefine the value of waste by using recycled cotton in selected ranges. Recycled cotton can be sourced from pre- or post-consumer waste, which means it can come from a variety of sources like factory off-cuts and remnants, or garments and textiles otherwise destined for landfill. Recycled cotton is blended with other fibres to create a strong and durable fabric.

Better Cotton

We're a proud member of Better Cotton. Better Cotton aims to help cotton communities survive and thrive, while protecting and restoring the environment.

The program trains farmers to use water efficiently, care for the health of the soil and natural habitats, reduce use of the most harmful chemicals and respect the rights and wellbeing of workers.
